Second Half of 2018

In the Second Half of 2018, besides Continuing the two major focuses: “Special Topics in Art Observations” and “Tainan Local Visit Tours” series, ASA Salon also organizes “Study Groups” for philosophical theories, expecting to inspire the participants’ consciousness and encourage experience sharing.

This time, in “Special Topics in Art Observations,” we not only keep focusing on Southeast Asian Arts, but also invite for the first time the curator of Taiwan International Documentary Festival, TIDF. We invite him to share about the Dokufest in Southeast European Country Kosovo, and to hold a series of lectures about curating, animation making, experiences of joining festivals, and so on.

In the “Tainan Local Visit Tours” series, apart from visiting local markets, architectural sites and the “turtle granting” ritual, it’s also our first time to work with a postdoctoral researcher from National Cheng Kung University, NCKU. She starts with the urban legend happening in an abandoned hospital in Tainan, and views things with a whimsical perspective, somehow adding an unique atmosphere to the series.

As for the “Study Groups,” they are hosted by two lecturers of varied styles, and  break the stereotypical impression of being hard to understand and making participants sleepy. The lecturers  apply their unique reading orders and ways of thinking, so as to guide the participants to understand sculptures, daily lives and the philosophers’ intimate lives and thoughts.
