First Half of 2019
In the first half of 2019, ASA Salon releases three major series, including “Tainan Local Visit Tours” and “ Special Topics in Fine Art” from last year. Furthermore, this year we bring in a brand new series “Special Topics in Spirit of the Handmade Cinema.”
In “Tainan Local Visit Tours,” we invite new young lecturers to share their personal perspectives of both sense and sensibility, and talk about Tainan’s history of daily life. We also cover the history of Tainan’s rice industry, hopefully guiding the participants to understand Tainan’s characteristic from an unique viewpoint. Since the “turtle granting culture” last year was rather popular, this year we offer hands-on experiences by holding workshops, and joining the activities held by a nearby temple. We look forward to discovering deeper cultural meanings.
As for the “Special Topics in Fine Art” series, we not only keep on organizing lectures on curating. Besides, facing numerous and chaotic forms of art nowadays, we’re curious what kind of inspiration we might obtain by looking back and discussing the “avant-garde” in art history. Also, we talk about philosophical and literary works and take a look at the creative experiences and life demonstration of different kinds of creators, including art critics and movie directors.
In the brand-new series “Special Topics in Spirit of Handmade Cinema,” we invite Zhuang Zhi-Fan, who studied filmmaking in San Francisco Art Institute, to talk about handmade cinema. By showing the participants several cinematic works, the lecturer discusses different aspects such as the skills, the visual perception and the differences of now and then.
