Second half of 2022
There are four project in the second half of 2022 ASA Salon: "Cross-domain Art", "Local Exploration in Tainan", "Invisible City", and "Art Industry".
Perception is constantly and silently changing in every moment, in the present moment and the next. In the "Cross-domain Art" topic, YANG,WAN-I will present the visual philosophy of Lévinas and explore the possibilities of visual communication with others. Crossing dimensions of time and space, transcending the everyday temporal-spatial realm, CHUANG,CHIH-FAN will discuss the aesthetics of "Zen" and its relationship with the momentary perception of body and mind in relation to art.
The so-called everyday consists of "those things." In the "Invisible City" topic, invited speakers from different fields will discuss the visible and invisible aspects of the city. LI,LING will share how to observe the "ordinary." It is not only a discussion of walking, observation, and the ecology of social life, but also a discussion of our familiar "expressions." Through research in writing, YEH,HSING-JOU will revisit a historical period of noise performance in the 1990s, exploring the intertwining of people's restlessness and the development of art spaces in Tainan, thereby reconstructing a diverse Tainan landscape. Being in the present Tainan, we also invite CHANG,HUI-SHENG, the owner of Tainan's "Ting Shuo Studio," to exchange ideas on local practices involving place, sound, and the body.
In the "Local Exploration in Tainan" topic, HSIEH,CHI-FENG, who delves into Tainan's culture and history, will lead us on a personal visit to the renowned painter PAN,CHUN-YUAN's " CHUN-YUAN Studio." In this birthplace of three generations of the Pan family's artistic creations, we will gradually outline and understand the environment, origins, and wisdom of traditional beliefs and craftsmanship. Serves as a bridge between the art industry, we also plan the "Art Industry" topic. First, we invite CHEN,PO-KU from "Pont D'Art Publishing" to share his insights on the art workers he has observed throughout his years in art publishing, how they connect the art world, and provide young creators with a reference point for self-positioning. Curator CHUANG,WEI-TZU will share her work experience and insights on transitioning from art editing to curatorial work, as well as her observations on the changing landscape of contemporary art in recent years.
