Second Half of 2019
In the second half of 2019, ASA Salon not only continues the rather popular series “Tainan Local Visit Tours,” but also divides the courses into several categories after thorough consideration, including “Let’s Talk About…” series, “Special Topics in Narrative Cinema,” “Special Topics in Local Community,” and “Special Topics in Foreign Countries.”
This year the “Tainan Local Tours” series invite Li Shu-Pei and Chiu Mu-Jung to look back the overlap of local history, past culture and the development of modern society at the same time and guide the participants to learn about Tainan by walking in the streets in person. In the new series “Let’s Talk About…,” as usual we apply an easy and understandable way to talk about philosophy and architecture. Yang Wan-I, from the Institute of Philosophy in National Sun Yat-sen University, and Li Jia-Xiu, a young lecturer with a professional architect background, respectively talk about paintings, images and other examples. As for the four courses in “Special Topics in Narrative Cinema,” Zhuang Zhi-Fan sets up the syllabus with her own logic. In the previous half year, she mainly focused on handmade cinema and designed the courses according to abstract physical perceptions. We look forward to what kind of viewpoints she brings us this time.
Last but not least, near the end of the year, “Special Topics in Local Community” and “Special Topics in Foreign Countries” happen to be two opposite directions. They’re about “local” and “international,” yet the core issues are the same, including the residents’ situations, the cultural reservations and impacts, etc. In addition to Lu Jia-Hui, we also invite a new lecturer Ye Zhe-Yue, to share the experiences of community reconstruction in Chiayi. As for the “Special Topics in Foreign Countries,” we invite Wei Ze, an artist who cares about human state of being and has been traveling around the world for many years, and Lu Jia-Hui to respectively share their experiences in South America and Tibet.
