First Half of 2023

Finally breaking free from the constraints of the pandemic, Absolute Space Art Salon presents its "History of Materials" and "Artist's Book" series for the year 2023. Through hands-on workshops, the series aims to lead the public to perceive the world through the eyes of artists, engaging in activities where hands and minds synchronize. The first half of the year focuses on the theme "History of Materials," with three artist instructors leading five consecutive sessions, which aim to connect the realms of knowledge and perception.

To kick off this series, we invite the multidisciplinary artist who excels in both fine art and design, Chih Chiu, to introduce artworks related to the wind. Through the process of creating wind-powered wearable devices, participants delve deep into the exploration of materials, techniques, and the stories behind them, examining the relationship between artworks and the wind.

Following this, the talented food sculptor, Lo Yu Chi, takes over, leading a two-day workshop where participants use everyday food materials to blend, knead, stretch, collage, and envelop, activating sensory and mnemonic resonance to create pieces that are connecting to the abstract self.

Concluding the first phase of the 2023 Absolute Space Art Salon series, artist Chang Cheng-Chun collaborates with artist Zheng Wenhao to launch the "Beach Investigation Team B" project. Over two days, team members undergo intensive training in waste utilization, transforming decay into wonder. They craft excavation tools for beach investigation, and the following day, engage in beach field exercises to investigate "gifts" from neighboring countries...
