【Statement】 The exhibition this time starts from the visions of two creators, aiming to give off the wandering view of memory and the prospect of time and space from object/substance. No matter Chuang Tsung-Hyun’s public recreation area, or Cheng Hsiu-Ju’s intimate sight of house indoors,these views/prospects are all familiar landscapes we’ve ever stopped to watch in our daily life. However,how does an artist represent his/her daily view/prospect through the issue he/she focuses for creation?

The works shown in the exhibition imply the features shared by both of them –flattened color, schema, viewpoint, memory layer, which involve the discussion related to object and substance, but still carry the different time and attitude toward space for scene and object/substance, for instance, the conversations between “alienation/intimacy,” “vision/touch,” “absence/presence,” “cover/appearance,” and “public sphere/ private sphere.”Through the illustration of objects and substances,the perception of “watching things” is generated while seeing artworks.Meanwhile, it also invites the viewer to search for the position where the observing subject (which is “I”) is.No matter the “materialistic angle” that the artists adopt to interpret the world, or the viewer who carries his or her own experience and vision to see works in contraposition, it shows that both creators observe the existing body situation and the present time through the motif of the show Transfiguration of Things. From materialism to the presentation of personal view/prospect, a certain kind of vacancy remains amidst the show, waiting for the sight communication and the interpretation of text.
