【About】 Since 2015, Melel Chen has been focusing on the relationship between aesthetics and politics in the context of modernization by using images, photography, sculptures, installations and other mediums to create art works. In the summer of 2017, the exhibition, Right Place, was produced in London, England. Later, the same work was awarded 2019 Kaohsiung Award when it was exhibited in Taiwan showing certain plants that are often considered as weeds in Taiwan. After Now Place curated by Absolute Space is a continuation of Right Place shown in UK and Taiwan. This solo exhibition in Absolute Space will be served as the continuation and side stories of those two exhibitions mentioned earlier by showing related objects, images, and sculptures.

【Melmel Chen】 Chen was born in 1984 in Taichung, Taiwan and she obtained the master's degree of Creative Arts in Goldsmiths College, University of London. Her works mainly explore, firstly, aesthetics and life politics within the context of modernization, and secondly, examine the diversity, heterogeneity and the host-guest relationship between culture, history and society. The mediums she uses are photography, sculptures, videos, installations as well as she creates works directly on the sites of exhibition venues. She had participated in the joint exhibitions in London, Taiwan, Norway, and etc. The recent exhibitions were shown in Hong-Gah Museum, Taipei Artist Village and Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts.
