The sequencing instruction of “HELP。Government。HELP。2022 “ is based on the artist’s 2022 presentation. It is a sentimental production of the public and personal emotions the artist has experienced in life. It can be the general statement for the state of artwork since everything happened in the shift of time is only the analyses and arrangements the artist has made.
On top of the camel brown rug, the music of “Total Trash” and “Teen Age Riot” Sonic Youth included in the 1988 album Daydream Nation flows in the air. The music arrangement was specifically appointed by the artist. In the year the album was released, Taiwan went through the Peasant Movement on May 20th. Being at a similar age as the guitarist, the artist shares the same emotions as he went by Taipei Train Station and witnessed the waterspout spurting to the crowd.
For the artist, he had two choices to make: Do something or remain powerless. “HELP。Government。HELP。2022” originates from the manufacturing relationship between the public landscape and the geographic location into which the artist is probing. It is designed to be an on-site installation that is yet to be “completed,” which means that it’s “still in progress.” This not only implies the inescapable anxiety in life, but also the poise of time. With over optimization, these objects echo the utopian ideas within the public areas and the artist’s on-site choice of solution for the space.
“HELP。Government。HELP。2022” is a continuous art project. It uses the objects and events of a space as a way for the artist to join history in the present moment. Through this means, the artist is able to make out his pedigree in the process.

【About Ho-Jang, Liu】
Liu Ho Jang, born in 1972 in Taiwan, received M.F.A. at Queens College, the City University of New York in 2002 Hojang Liu’s photographic and sculpture projects concerns more than image making or technology quality. His peculiar artistic practice often reflects the social context and politics behind the surface—may it be an object, a place, or a community, his works shed light on their individualities and differences. In recent years, he has continued the exhibition project of mt.black, and published the "B5 Project - BOUNDARY SUBSTANCE in VIRTUAL " at the Taipei Fine Arts Museum (2017), invited to the "Asian Biennale" (2017), the public art project " THE GAZEBO OF CHILLI " and " GAP PROJECT " (2020), a joint exhibition in Spain and Lebanon.
