Statement ㊌
A river begins high in the mountains, flowing freely through forests and farmlands. As it journeys downstream, every drop becomes entangled in human systems — reservoirs, canals, industries, and cities. Within this flow, water carries memory, movement, and transformation.
The Political Climate of Water explores the entangled relationships between ecology, society, and imagination in an age of climate change. The exhibition traces how water shapes and is shaped by human actions — through rising seas and forest breath, through acts of pragmatism, cleansing, and extraction. Water is both subject and witness: a living medium through which the changing climate becomes tangible and visible.
This exhibition invites us to taste water not merely as a resource, but as a relation — a presence that connects societies, bodies, species, and futures. To care for water is to care for the climate itself: what flows through rivers also flows through us.
Once a shared body, water has become a political entity — a site of control, resistance, and survival.

淺水：城市水聲採集工作坊 Shallow Water: Urban Water Soundscape Workshop

Introduction：
This workshop invites participants to explore the soundscapes of Tainan through the lens of water. Inspired by Singapore’s water challenges and Tainan’s water heritage, including Jingtou and Fanliao Lane, participants will listen, observe, and uncover water-related sounds embedded in everyday urban life.
As a starting point for shallow observation, deep exploration, the workshop encourages participants to discover the hidden connections between water and the city through collective listening and sound collection. By sharing their findings, participants will reflect on how water shapes the rhythms, memories, and identities of place, while experiencing the city anew through attentive listening.

藍曬顯影：無相機攝影入門 Cyanotype: Introduction to Camera-less Photography
Instructor ：Ng Hui Hsien（SG）
Maximum Participants ：10 Suitable for ages 9 and above
Introduction ：
In this introductory workshop, participants will explore camera-less photography through cyanotype, an early photographic process that uses light-sensitive chemistry, water, and UV light to create images. Participants will coat and expose their own paper, working with natural materials and found objects to create blue-toned prints.
This is a hands-on session focused on play and discovery. Through experimentation, participants will see how materials, light, and exposure time shape the final image. We will also look at how contemporary artists use camera-less photography in creative ways.
Each participant will leave with a set of unique prints and an introduction to how analogue photographic processes can generate images without the use of a camera.

流水雨聲棒製作工作坊 Flowing Rainstick Workshop

Introduction ：
To complement the exhibition’s theme of water and artist Hsiao Sheng-Chien’s artwork Listening to the Rain, the artist has specially designed the Flowing Rainstick Workshop. Using everyday materials such as PVC pipes, toothpicks, and small pebbles, participants will create their own sound-making instrument while exploring how ordinary objects can be transformed into artistic creations. Through this hands-on experience, participants will discover the creative potential of common materials and gain a deeper appreciation for the relationship between sound, nature, and art.

About Curator︙
王若冰 Wang Ruobing（SG）
Wang Ruobing is an artist, educator, and independent curator. She holds a DPhil from the University of Oxford and previously served as a curator at the National Gallery Singapore. She is currently an Associate Professor at LASALLE College of the Arts, University of the Arts Singapore, and co-founder of the independent art space Comma Space.
As an independent curator, her recent projects include Sama-Sama (2025), Alternative Ecology: The Community (2024), Site and Nature: A Collection of Remembering (2023), Artist Conference (2023), In Between (2021–2022), Artist as Collector (2021), 12 SOLO (2020–2021), Arts in Your Neighbourhood (Public Art Trust, 2018 and 2019), What Happens When Nothing Happens (Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay, 2019), Of Other Places (The Substation, 2019), and Beneath Tide, Running Forest (Singapore Botanic Gardens,2018).

About Artist︙
陳宣誠 Eric Chen（TW）
Eric Chen received his Ph.D. in Art from Tainan National University of the Arts. He is currently a Professor in the Department of Architecture at Chung Yuan Christian University and the principal architect at ArchiBlur Lab and Co-Making Place. He has also served as a visiting professor at the School of Architecture and Built Environment at UCSI University in Malaysia. He has long explored developing a redefined scale of architecture between the body and the landscape, aiming to use the most genuine bodily sensations to repeatedly experience the fundamental values of things. This approach reexamines the role of human constructions and considers how to interact with natural ecosystems without being destructive or solely focused on human use. Instead, it actively seeks to understand and repair the environment. Through construction, he explores and responds to the coexistence and succession of life. The various forms of life accumulate different knowledge through this process, serving as an act of restoration for oneself, for life, and for the land. This approach also makes architecture a matter of the environment for both humans and non-humans.
曹明浩 × 陳建軍 Cao Minghao & Chen Jianjun（CN）
Artists and transdisciplinary researchers Cao Minghao & Chen Jianjun currently live and work in Chengdu. Their art practices are research-based and process-oriented, highlighting the reciprocal collaboration between the artists and their partners. Dedicated to the dialogical relationship between realities and survival of myriad things, their practices grow from a space of entanglement between the material ecology of waters and current socio-environmental realities of humankind. Tapping into this space, which remains largely untouched by existent inquiries, they explore the vicissitude of ecologies and the re-imaginaries of the future.
蕭聖健 Hsiao Sheng-Chien（TW）
Sheng-Chien Hsiao is a Taiwanese artist and educator based in Kaohsiung. He received his MFA from the Graduate Institute of Plastic Arts at the National Tainan Institute of the Arts.
Working primarily with motors, gears, industrial parts, toys, and found everyday objects, Hsiao creates low-tech kinetic sound installations that emulate the sounds of nature through mechanical movement. The friction, impact, and resonance generated by these systems recreate auditory memories of frogs, insects, rainfall, and flowing water—soundscapes that have gradually faded amid rapid urbanization and industrial development.
By transforming mechanical noise into artificial natural environments, Hsiao's work explores the tensions between technology and ecology, memory and progress. His installations serve as poetic reflections on humanity's desire for advancement and the environmental losses that often accompany it, inviting audiences to reconsider their relationship with the natural world.
金安娜 Anna Kim（KR）
Anna Kim is a multimedia artist investigating the intersection of humanity, technology, and the environment. She observes environmental and social phenomena to construct alternative narratives through digital storytelling and simulative practices. By utilizing technology in subversive and critical ways, she explores new trajectories for our collective future. She has exhibited internationally at venues including ISEA 2025 in Seoul, SAT in Montreal, and CYFEST 16 in Armenia and Mexico City. Her work is held in several permanent collections, including the Seoul Museum of Art, Jeju Museum of Contemporary Art, and Daegu Museum of Art. Currently, she is an assistant professor of Multimedia Arts at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.
黃慧嫻 Ng Hui Hsien（SG）
Ng Hui Hsien works as an artist and educator. Through her artworks, she seeks to evoke stillness and wonder, especially towards our inner landscapes and the more-than-human world. Her work is informed by phenomenology, one that sees our bodies as sites of knowledge and one curious about our relations with the living earth. She has received solo exhibitions at Objectifs Centre of Photography and Film, Singapore (2023), Grey Projects, Singapore (2020-2021), Comma Space, Singapore (2020), and Reykjavík Museum of Photography, Iceland (2018-2019). Her work has been internationally exhibited at institutions and photography festivals. She holds a Master of Arts in Photography from University of the West of England and a Master of Social Sciences (Sociology) from National University of Singapore.
王若冰 x 陳賽華灌 Ruobing & Sai（SG）
Ruobing & Sai is an artist duo comprising Singapore-based artists Wang Ruobing and Chen Sai Hua Kuan. Since 1997, they have collaborated on artworks whenever their ideas intersect, developing a shared practice grounded in dialogue, experimentation, and long-term engagement.
Ruobing’s artistic practice explores humanity’s relationship with the environment through the lenses of ecology and knowledge production. Her works have been presented in both local and international exhibitions. Sai (Chen Sai Hua Kuan) is a Singapore-based artist known for his sound-interactive sculptures, installations, and public artworks that transform everyday experiences into playful, perceptive spaces of becoming. His works invite audiences to reconsider the familiar through humour, sensory engagement, and subtle surprise.
